KNOXVILLE

Curb-side Collection:

Waste haulers offer curbside recycling, some at a small additional fee. Contact your hauler for more information and for a list of what you can recycle.

Drop-off Locations and Times:

Regional Recycling Center (Brown's Sanitation) 641-842-4170
Location: 610 North Depot Street
Hours: M-F, 8:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Recyclable items:

  • Paper: Newspapers; Newspaper inserts; Magazines; Catalogs; Office paper; Phone books
  • Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard only - PLEASE FLATTEN. NO cereal or other non-corrugated packaging
  • Metal Cans: Food cans, drink cans, and metal ends of juice cans - PLEASE RINSE, CRUSH or FLATTEN and REMOVE LABELS. NO paint or aerosol cans
  • Glass: Bottles and jars only: clear, brown or green - PLEASE RINSE, REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and RINGS. May leave labels on. NO windows, ceramics, dishes, light bulbs, or broken glass.
  • Plastic: Numbers 1 and 2: Bottles, jugs and other rigid containers - PLEASE RINSE, CRUSH or FLATTEN and REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and METAL RINGS. May leave labels on. NO motor oil or pesticide containers, styrofoam, bags, film, toys, hose or pipe.

Curbside Program

The city of Pella offers a curbside program. For more information, call City Hall at 641-628-4173 or Midwest Sanitation at 641-628-2610.

Recyclable items

  • Paper: Newspapers; Newspaper inserts; Magazines, White office paper; Mixed office paper (including color); Computer paper; Books, paperback; Phone books; Junk mail; and Catalogs. PLEASE SEPARATE AND BUNDLE PAPER ITEMS. NO waxed paper, milk cartons or cereal boxes or other non-corrugated packaging.
  • Cardboard: Corrugated only. PLEASE FLATTEN
  • Metal cans: Food cans; Drink cans; Aluminum pie pans, Foil. PLEASE RINSE; REMOVE LABELS; CRUSHED preferred. NO paint or aerosol cans, metal pots and pans, kitchen appliances, furniture, or aluminum siding.
  • Glass: Bottles and jars only, Clear or Brown. RINSE; REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and RINGS. May leave labels on. NO windows, mirrors, drinking glasses, ceramics, plates, light bulbs, or pottery.
  • Plastic: Numbers 1, 2 and 3: Bottles, jugs and other rigid containers RINSE, REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and METAL RINGS. May leave label on. NO pesticide or antifreeze containers, plastic bags, styrofoam, flower pots, toys, waste baskets, laundry baskets or Tupperware-type containers.
  • Yard Waste: Pick up on Wednesdays. Must use special yard waste bags.
