Lucas County Recycling
Recycling is available to Lucas County citizens as a joint effort by the County and City governments. Recycling trailers are located at a permanent site in Chariton and rotated on a regular basis in the other communities in the county.

Recyclable Items
- Newsprint: Newspapers; Newspaper inserts; Magazines;
- Catalogs; Phone books.
- Cardboard: Corrugated & non-currugated cardboard ARE accepted - PLEASE FLATTEN.
- Metal Cans: Food cans, drink cans, and metal ends of juice cans. PLEASE RINSE, CRUSH or FLATTEN and REMOVE LABELS. NO paint or aerosol cans.
- Glass: Bottles and jars only: clear, brown or green. PLEASE RINSE, REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and RINGS. May leave labels on. NO windows, ceramics, dishes, light bulbs, or broken glass.
- Plastic: Numbers 1 and 2: bottles, jugs and other rigid containers. PLEASE RINSE, CRUSH or FLATTEN and REMOVE CAPS, LIDS and METAL RINGS. May leave labels on. NO motor oil or pesticide containers, styrofoam, bags, film, toys, hose or pipe.
