Field Trip and Grant Information
Schedule a field trip to South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency's Landfill and Education Center or Poweshiek Transfer Station! This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the environmental costs and challenges of solid waste management through multi-media presentations and displays in our "green" Education Center. Tours of the Landfill and Transfer Station will allow students to see for themselves the large amount of garbage generated every day as well as steps taken to dispose of it properly.
Grants are available to school groups to help defray field trip costs. SCISWA is offering a reimbursement of up to $200 per school this year. The grants will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis and reimbursement will be received after the trip is completed.
