New (and Easy) Adventures in Green Living
Green is a word on everyone’s lips right now. Whether you were inspired by Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” or your very expensive winter energy bills, many Iowans are looking for ways to become more eco-friendly. Going green can be easy if you choose just a few habits to change every week or month. Of course, it all depends on your personal choices and preferences. While I doubt most average people are running out to buy a new hybrid vehicle or attaching solar panels to their homes, everyone can use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) or make an effort to recycle a little more.

Agency Results from a Decade of Hazardous Waste Collection
The South Central Solid Waste Agency was awarded with a Certificate of Excellence from Metro Waste Authority in accordance with 10 years of participation in the Household Hazardous Waste collection program. This program gathers various items that need special disposal in order to prevent harm to individuals and the environment.

Amber Alley Joins SCISWA Staff
The South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency (SCISWA) welcomes Amber Alley to the staff as Education and Outreach Specialist. Amber is a recent graduate of Iowa State University where she majored in Marketing. The Corydon, Iowa native also has experience as a Marketing Communications Intern with Pella Corporation.
