South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency
Minutes of the Meeting
February 10, 2010

Chairman Roger Schletzbaum (Marion County) called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. with the following members present: Doug Shutts (Poweshiek County), Mike Beary (Monroe County). Larry Davis (Lucas County) was absent.

Also in attendance: Jim Kingery (Marion County Alternate). Staff Milo McCombs, Leslie Sedlock, and Sara Bixby.

Moved by Shutts, seconded by Beary to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Shutts to approve the January 2010 Minutes. All ayes.

Moved by Shutts, seconded by Beary to approve the financial report as presented. All ayes.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Shutts to approve the check register dated January 31, 2010. All ayes.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Shutts to approve the addition of Agency Business Manager Leslie Sedlock as an approved signer on the Agency’s “Wells Fargo Choice 4 Public Funds Checking Account with Interest.” All ayes.

Bixby reviewed changes to the Agency check-writing policy with board members.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Shutts to approve the changes made to the Agency check-writing policy. All ayes.

Bixby updated board members on staffing at the Agency.

The following household hazardous waste collection events for calendar 2010 are as follows: April 3rd (Pella), April 10 (Grinnell), May 5 (Chariton) July 10th (Knoxville) and October 9 (Grinnell).

Bixby explained to the board that each year at the end of January, the Agency is required to submit three summary monitoring reports to the Department of Natural Resources.

McCombs reported it’s been business as usual and staff continues to put garbage in the new cell.

Sedlock reported that on February 17th Norma Hauling from ICAP will be at the Agency to give Harassment in the work place class. Bixby submitted her Directors report and reviewed it with board members. A complete report is on file with the minutes.
