Minutes of the Meeting
September 10, 2008
Chairman Roger Schletzbaum (Marion County) called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. with the following members present: Mike Beary (Monroe County) Doug Shutts (Poweshiek County), and Larry Davis (Lucas County).
Also in attendance: Dwight Mater (Marion County Alternate) and Brian VanderMeiden (Midwest Sanitation). Staff Milo McCombs, Amber Alley and Sara Bixby.
Moved by Shutts, seconded by Davis to approve the September 2008 agenda. All ayes.
Moved by Shutts, seconded by Beary to approve the Minutes of July 2008. All ayes.
Moved by Shutts, seconded by Beary to approve the financial report as presented. All ayes.
Moved by Shutts, seconded by Davis to approve the bills presented. All ayes.
Bixby reported the Clarke County Landfill Commission in early August released a request for bids for disposal of municipal solid waste via a planned Commission Transfer Station. Bixby turned in the intent to bid and will submit a bid to accept the waste.
The Agency's FYE 2008 financial audit is scheduled for October 14th and 15th.
Bixby reported she has received DNR's comment letter on the Agency's application for Landfill permit renewal. Bixby and Foth Infrastructure are working through responses and will have more information at the next board meeting.
Bixby reported the DOT's replacing the bridge over Walnut Creek just south of Pierce Drive on Highway T-17. Traffic from the south will be detoured on the gravel.
McCombs (landfill foreman) reported the compactor is back up and running and the leachate is down to 3 loads per week.
Alley (Outreach Specialist) submitted her outreach specialist report and reviewed it with board members. A complete report is on file with the minutes. Alley is now accepting HHW during the week at the Landfill.
Bixby submitted her Directors report and reviewed it with board members. A complete report is on file with the minutes.
