Board Minutes

South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency
Minutes of the Meeting
November 14, 2007

Chairman Roger Schletzbaum (Marion Co) called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. with the following members present: Larry Davis (Lucas Co.); Mike Beary (Monroe Co.) Lamoyne Gaard (Poweshiek Co.).

Also in attendance: Kathy VanderMeiden (Midwest Sanitation); Dwight Mater (Marion County Alternate); Staff Leslie Sedlock, Milo McCombs, and Sara Bixby.

Moved by Davis, seconded by Beary to approve the November 2007 agenda and move Education/Outreach Specialist to item number three. All ayes.

Bixby introduced Amber Alley to the board. Amber will be the Agency’s new Education Outreach Specialist, beginning January 1, 2008.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Davis to approve the Minutes of October 2007. All ayes.

Moved by Beary, seconded by Davis to approve the financial report. All ayes.

Moved by Davis, seconded by Beary to remove the Yocum bill for the pump and approve the remainder of the bills presented. All ayes.

Bixby had members of the board sign the comprehensive plan resolution that was approved in October.

Bixby reported on the status of Chapter 113 landfill rules and informed the board that DNR renewed the landfill permit until September 30, 2008.

Bixby reviewed Agency’s upcoming meetings and a few ISOSWO meetings that board members may be interested in attending.

McCombs reported to board members staff completed closure on the south and west bank. Harp Pettyjohn’s last day will be Friday and Bob Harsin is still working every Friday until after Christmas. McCombs is investigating some alternative daily cover and litter picking.

Sedlock will attend an employment seminar November 15th.

Bixby submitted her Directors report and reviewed it with board members. A complete report is on file with the minutes.
